Lenna Young Andrews has been considered ‘creative’ as long as she can remember. Although she never received a bachelor’s degree, her training in both art and dance has always been a big part of her life. (See here for more info on her background).
Today, Lenna’s mixed media work is most often referred to as ‘layered’, intriguing, full of emotion or feeling and also, inspiring. She works with paper, paint, canvas, fabric, photos, vintage papers, her sewing machine, natural items like shells, and just about anything that inspires her. You can keep up with her creative pursuits on her art blog, creative lenna.
Lenna has been published about 50 times for both her art and her articles in both books and magazines, since 1994. You’ll find her art in various Somerset Studio publications, RubberStampMadness, and Expression Magazine (Cover art, 2005). You will also find her work in 1000 Artist Journals, The Art of Fabric Books, and Altered Books 101, to name a few. More details can be found here.
Lenna discovered at a young age that she enjoyed teaching and she’s been teaching either dance-fitness or art since 1977. She found she has a talent for teaching, whether it be in-person or via an online class. She truly enjoys helping students discover the joy and contentment that being creative can bring and is often noted for her helpful and encouraging instruction. Students most often describe her as highly organized and an extremely caring teacher who can take a large project and break it down into manageable parts.
